A striking Victorian signet ring dated 1892, centred with a rectangular Hematite intaglio finely carved with the profile of a Roman centurion. The dark, mirror-like stone is held within a geometric bezel & claw setting, creating a dramatic contrast against the warmth of the 14ct rose gold.
Exceptional engraved scrollwork flows across the broad shoulders, framed by delicate millegrain-style borders. An original inscription to the inside adds a personal trace of its past and confirms its remarkable age.
