Rare, radiant, and utterly captivating, this Victorian Diamond starburst pendant is an exceptional jewel dating to c1850. Handcrafted by Mappin & Webb, this pendant embodies the bold symbolism and exquisite craftsmanship of the maker & the era, with a dramatic celestial starburst design that feels both historic and timeless (comes in original fitted box).
To the centre sits a 0.21ct old European cut Diamond surrounded by an array of beautifully matched OEC Diamonds in a six-pointed star formation, with further 'satellite' rays each holding a single OEC Diamonds, a total thirty seven Diamonds, bringing the total Diamond weight to an impressive 2.44 carats.
The Diamonds are set within a traditional silver-topped settings to enhance their brilliance, backed in 9ct yellow gold, a classic Victorian technique.
Finished with a concealed oval bale, the pendant sits seamlessly on a chain, allowing the striking starburst form to take full centre stage. A rare survivor from the early Victorian period, this is a statement piece of remarkable quality and presence, rich in history, symbolism, and beauty.

“Our story began in 1775, when Jonathan Mappin opened a workshop in Sheffield. His mission was to create the most beautifully crafted silverware for British society.
The years that followed saw the company expand internationally, receiving Royal Warrants and commissions from Monarchs around the world, and becoming synonymous with excellence, craftsmanship and all things undeniably British.
The company continued to trade throughout both World Wars and its acclaimed Campaign watch, supplied to the Admiralty in 1914, played an integral role in the brand’s widespread popularisation during this time.
