An exceptional example of Victorian design, this antique butterfly jewel is both versatile and enchanting. Handcrafted in 9ct gold with a silver top c1890, the wings are delicately inlaid with a colourful arrangement of gemstones that mimic the natural beauty of a butterfly’s wings – Sapphires, rose cut Diamonds & pink Spinels, with a thorax set with Pearls.
Especially remarkable is the removable brooch fitting which allows it to be worn as a traditional brooch or converted into a pendant. The craftsmanship showcases the era’s fascination with nature-inspired motifs, where butterflies symbolised transformation, hope, and joy.
