An exceptional Arts & Crafts era ring dating to c1920’s featuring a moody solid Opal set in sterling silver, attributed to the esteemed Australian jeweller Rhoda Wager.
The Opal is cut en cabochon and glows with soft, milky body colour and gentle flashes of pastel fire, a stone prized during the movement for its natural, almost ethereal beauty.
The setting is rich with hand-worked detail: a sculptural oval bezel framed by flowing botanical motifs, textured leaves, and softly domed silver beads. Every element feels intentional yet organic, a hallmark of true Arts & Crafts design where craftsmanship was celebrated over uniformity. Unfortunately, Wager did not always mark her pieces, and as such we are attributing this to her as it is unmistakably her work.
Balanced, wearable, and quietly striking, this piece feels just as relevant now as it did over a century ago. The kind of ring that draws you in slowly, revealing more detail the longer you look, wonderfully handmade, deeply romantic, and full of soul.
