ANTIQUE VICTORIAN c1880 WATCH CHAIN WITH GARNET SET MEDALLION ON STERLING SILVER

A heavy and impressive Victorian watch chain consisting of round rollo links ending to ornate finials, one with dog clip which suspends the original medallion showing a raised shield set with twenty Round-cut Pyrope Garnets, incredibly ornate, highly detailed and weighing a very hefty 61.80 grams, this rare antique sits longer than the Edwardian Albert fobs, as these were worn around the neck, rather than on waistcoats.
Beautifully handcrafted c1880 on Sterling Silver, 925, bearing a Maker’s Mark to the back of the Shield ‘AA’ and 925, along with a Unicorn Stamp to the inside of the Dog Clip, our research indicates this would be of European manufacture, likely German.
