A rare and deeply romantic piece, rich with artistic symbolism and beautifully preserved detail.
This antique c1880 Aesthetic movement locket is a true collector’s find, handcrafted in 15ct yellow gold with intricate, nature-inspired engraving throughout. The front is adorned with delicate floral motifs and set with five flush set Rubies within etched floral surrounds, while a finely detailed bird in flight crafted in relief adds a poetic, almost storybook quality. The etched scalloped border and soft matte finish give it that unmistakable Aesthetic movement character, artistic, thoughtful, and uniquely expressive.
To the reverse, the original glass pane remains intact, opening to hold a removable photograph or keepsake, a large oval bale is suspended from the original figure-8 hook. This gorgeous locket presents in excellent condition throughout.
