ORIGINAL c1880s VICTORIAN KUKUI NUT PENDANT ON 9CT YELLOW GOLD
This beautiful and unusual pendant features a Hawaiian Kukui Nut, so favoured by the Victorians. During the days of the Monarchy. The Kukui nuts were dried and buried for weeks so that ants could eat out the meat. Then they were painstakingly sanded, polished, and strung for adornment.
This wonderful example is in fabulous condition, and features a highly ornate engraved scalloped mount, reaching to an ornate bail, beautifully hand crafted in 9ct yellow gold.
This pendant is so very wearable in a modern context and looks so gorgeous on.
This pendant is in fabulous condition, considering this piece is 140 years old! The mount is very secure, and the Kukui nut remains free from scratches.
