AUSTRALIAN ANTIQUE VICTORIAN c1890’s RUBY & SEED PEARL RING ON 18ct YELLOW GOLD

Made by renowned Australian Jewellery Manufacturers WENDTS* est.1884, this beautiful Victorian ring centres a star flush set Ruby flanked by Natural Seed Pearls and decorated with ornate etched work in a slightly raised top to a tapered flat band.

Wonderfully handcrafted c1890’s on 18ct Yellow Gold and a gorgeous example of early Australian Jewellery, this ring of solid construction weighing 4.65 grams, a stunning ring on will make a great addition to your Antique Jewellery wardrobe, with crisp hallmarks featuring the WENDTS Maker’s Mark.

A Brief History of the Maker:

Joachim Matthias Wendt arrived in Port Adelaide in 1854, just 18 years after the foundation of South Australia. He was born in 1830 in Denmark.

He brought his skills to South Australia, quickly opening a small watchmaking and jewellery shop in Pirie Street, Adelaide. Business was good and so he soon moved to better premises in Rundle Street.

Wendt's soon became recognised as a top quality shop. The jewellery, silverware, watches and clocks were equal to the best which were imported.

Joachim Wendt died in 1917 aged 87, the business continued to flourish under H. K. Wendt's management. His eldest son, Alan, joined the business in 1919. On his father's death in 1938, Alan became sole proprietor. In 1947, Alan's son Peter Koeppen Wendt, joined his father and they became the first directors of the newly formed private company, and are still prominent today.

• Resizing is FREE on any rings over $1000 plus cost of material for sizing up.
• Resizing is $50 on any ring under $1000 plus cost of material for sizing up.
• Additional cost for sizing more than 5 sizes and white gold.
• Resizing takes 7-10 business days.
